The Hooters haben bei mir den Status etwas oberhalb des One-Hit-Wonders. Immerhin gibt es neben „All you Zombies“ ja auch noch „And we danced“ und „25 Hours a Day“. Eine 4-CD-Box zum 30. Geburtstag wirkt vor diesem Hintergrund allerdings etwas üppig.
Aber ganz so dick ist es ja auch nicht. Bis auf eine EP mit fünf neuen Tracks, die allerdings allesamt Cover-Versionen sind, ist nichts Neues in der Schachtel.
Es handelt es sich im Weiteren um eine "doppelte" Live-CD, die fast dieselben Tracks in etwas anderer Reihenfolge einmal im Band-Outfit und einmal als Akustik-Album vorstellt. Ihr wird noch einmal das letzte Studio-Album der Band beigelegt. Vervollständigt wird das Ganze, das je für sich bereits in der MAS besprochen wurde, mit einem knappen Booklet.
Zu hören ist mehr oder weniger knackige Gitarrenmusik, eher Rock, als Songwriter und mit deutlichen Anleihen beim Folk. Herausragende Songs sind eher selten und erinnern dann an Springsteen („I’m alive“), oder auch Jethro Tull („Morning Buzz“).
Nach gut drei Stunden Beschallung hat sich in meiner Erinnerung neben den drei genannten Titeln und „Pissing in the Rhine“, fröhlicher Irish Folk Säufer Punk in deutscher Sprache, nur der ungelistete Bonus Track der ersten CD festsetzen können. Das Album-Stück mit der meisten Power agiert als fröhlicher Rock mit Orgel Begleitung und fast so punkig wie eine Clash-Nummer.
