Jimmy Webb, den man kennt als Komponisten vieler zeitloser Songs, "Up, Up and Away", "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman", "Galveston", "The Worst That Could Happen", "All I Know" oder "MacArthur Park”, um die wohl wichtigsten zu nennen, veröffentlicht nun ein Album mit Coversongs.
SlipCover heißt das Album, mit dem er vielen Kolleginnen und Kollegen Tribut zollt, Näheres ist aus der Trackliste zu entnehmen. Einen seiner eigenen Songs, “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress“, hat er dazugepackt. Der Künstler begleitet sich selbst am Piano, Gesang wird es nicht zu hören geben, insofern ist es sein erstes Instrumentalalbum. Wie er selbst dazu ausführt: “…it make you hear these musicians more as composers, than rock stars and songwriters.”
Randy Newman hatte es dem Kollegen übrigens vorgeschlagen, eine solche Platte aufzunehmen.
